With summer memories fading fast, we turn to all the thrills that are, FALL! It’s time to get your car winter-ready and in top condition for the cold months ahead. Here are a few tips to help you make sure your car is ready for the winter days ahead!
- Check Those Brakes – Autumn is an ideal time to have your entire brake system checked. Brakes are extremely important when driving on the icy or snow-covered roads they may be coming to your area. An inspection should include brake linings, rotors, and drums.
- Charge Your Battery – Check your battery connections to make sure they are tight and free of corrosion. Cold weather can be hard on batteries so you’ll want to check your charging system. If your battery is more than three years old, you may want to go ahead and replace it since there are no warning signs for a failing battery. You don’t want to find yourself stranded.
- Heater, Defrosters, and Wiper Bladesventilating, – Don’t be left out in the cold this winter season. Make sure your heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems are working properly. In addition to your staying toasty, this system needs to be in working order to help with defrosting. Also, take a look at those wiper blades. There’s nothing worse than smeared dirt, rain, and/or snow on your windshield due to worn-out wiper blades. These should generally be replaced every six months. Don’t forget to check the fluid level in your windshield washer reservoir!
